Projects - Canals - 2010We have started our Canal topic and the children are very interested in it. They helped to plan the topic by compiling a list of questions that they wanted to know. Poppy and Ellie are very interested in the bats that live around the canals and have decided to build a bat cave. You can see them getting ready to start and we will show pictures of the finished product later. ![]() We have been using the internet and books to find out lots of information about animals, boats, bridges etc and have already begun our personal projects which we will show as they come in. ![]() Ships had to make a long journey around the north of Scotland before canals were built. We were using string here to compare the distances and measure them using a scale ruler. ![]() Lewis made this super boat! Didn't he do well? ![]() Jack's grampa helped him make this beautiful boat. ![]() Pierre has been learning about bats and made these great models for his personal project. ![]() Sara presented her personal project to the class today with confidence. ![]() What do you think of the bat-cave? ![]() Some more of our personal projects.

![]() Mr Ormsby came to visit us last Friday for our canal topic. He is from the Seagull Trust which use canal boats to take disabled children and adults on trips. He told us about the trust and also gave us some more history about canals. It was a very interesting talk and the children all enjoyed it. ![]() |
