Falkirk

I love to walk along the canal bank with my classmates. In 2007 we walked for miles, and visited an interesting building, that you can see in the pictures below. A long time ago, canal boats, or barges, didn't have engines and motors. They had to be pulled along by horses. The canal paths that we enjoy today were originally made so that horses could walk along with ropes, pulling the heavy barges. There aren't many horses on the canal paths today, because the barges have engines, The building in the picture is where they used to be stabled. It must have been very tough being a horse in the olden days.
