My trip to The Great Wall of ChinaI was invited by my friend Maggie on a trip to visit the The Great Wall of China in April 2009. It is a huge wall that was built a very long time ago by the Chinese armies to help protect China from being invaded. It is the only man-made building that can be seen from outer space. The sign in the picture below is Chinese writing. I don't know exactly what it says . Probably "Welcome to the Great Wall of China" or "keep off the grass" or " Get your souvenirs here". I don't know. ![]() The actual itinerary (that means the list of what we did and when we did it) is on the MacMillan web site. The kids have already made a map with all the places we went. Below is a picture of Maggie and me on the wall. We got so puffed out but the views were spectacular. ![]() I like the next picture because you can see how far we went and what great views we had. One of my fellow trekers took a Saltire with him and flew it from the top of a mountain. I think it looks wonderful and I am glad that the Chinese soldiers didn't see it and think we were trying to invade them After the trek was finished we went to Beijing and saw the elegant chinese buildings and palaces. ![]() The people we met were very friendly. Here are some of the children Maggie and I met along the way.
We had such a wonderful time and I want to thank Maggie for inviting me and taking me along. I have visited 5 of the 7 wonders now and I hope I will be able to see the last 2 soon. We have great software called Comic Life, which lets us make comic strips. Here is a comic that Scott D made. I think the Broons and Oor Wullie have to be careful because Scott is a really good comic maker and we might see him making cartoons as good as The Broons when he is older.
