Health Week - January 2010

On Monday the whole school did aerobics to launch our health week. Well, I can't believe it's been a whole year since our last Health Week.
I can still remember "The Magic Pizza" as if it was yesterday. If you don't remember, go to Healthweek2009 and listen to the wonderful songs that last year's P4 wrote and sang. But remember to come back.

We also had a visit from dental hygienist Evelyn Kidd who told us how to brush our teeth properly and some of the problems we would have if we didn't. She brought along Barney with her and he certainly has big teeth.

We also got to try Pop Lacrosse with Jen Cairns. It was great fun and a lot of the children would like to take up this sport.

Today we had a lot of fun putting on a concert with Fischy Music. All the songs we learned and composed were related to Health and Emotional Well Being and we had great fun learning the actions.

Our school cook, Margaret, came to visit the class on Wednesday to tell us about our healthy school meals menu. She asked for our opinion on the menu and explained why we have certain foods and not others. Its chicken curry tomorrow! Yum! My Favourite.

Around the rest of the school we have had lots of visiting specialists to tell classes about healthy eating and looking after our teeth and Elaine Smith told us how to look after ourselves on the roads coming and going to school. Foodlab - megasmoothie Roadshow was here and our active schools coordinator has been in too with lots of visitors to teach us how to play lacrosse and cricket. We have been getting lots of exercise from Eilidh Crofton with aeronics and Funky dancing with Kirsty Wallace as well as PE with our specialist teacher Lisa Martin. Its been a very busy week but we have enjoyed every minute of it.
